Jeep History - 60's
A new model line, and another company name.
A landmark year
A landmark year in Jeep brand history, 1963 saw the company renamed from Willys Motors to Kaiser Jeep and the introduction of a completely new line internally called the Jeep "Senior" line.
The Wagoneer & Gladiator
Two of these models were the Jeep Wagoneer station wagon and the Jeep Gladiator pick up truck. Both of these were the first from-the-ground up civilian utilities. Previous vehicles all had military design roots.
Replacing the Willys utility wagon lines, the Wagoneers were designed to provide passenger-car styling, comfort and convenience with the advantages of four wheel drive
The Gladiator was a full-size pick up truck and shared the same platform, front end styling, and powertrain as the Wagoneer.
