Chrysler's new UK Managing Director is presented with CEO of the year award

Chrysler’s new UK Managing Director Simon Elliott has been honoured with the CEO of the Year Award at the China Automotive Toplist awards.

The award, presented at China’s biggest annual event for imported vehicle manufacturers, is sponsored by Sina.com, one of the largest and most influential business websites in China together with China Trading Center for Automobile Import (CTCAI), one of the largest trade organisations in China.

The award was given to Simon after a panel of judges including journalists, Directors and the CEO's of Sina.com and CTCAI had assessed his influence in the market.

Commenting on the award Simon Elliott said: "To gain such recognition from the journalists, dealers and other people associated with the Auto Industry in China, the fastest growing market in the world, is an accolade for both me and my management team.

“My time in China has been immensely rewarding – leading a business that has increased sales by 13 per cent* since 2006 has been both a challenge and a privilege.  It is surprising just how much has changed in the UK market since I left to head up Chrysler in China two years ago. 

“I am very excited about the future for Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge brands in the UK.  We will launch the all-new Chrysler Grand Voyager and the Chrysler Sebring Cabrio in March, followed by the all-new Jeep Cherokee in July; together with the Dodge Journey which will be launched in September.

“I am confident that with the excellent team already in place in Milton Keynes together with our great dealer network Chrysler can move forward and become a real player in the UK market.”

Simon Elliott joined Chrysler in 2000 and has more than 25 years of experience in the automotive industry. 

*This figure includes all models.  Sales in China of new models increased by more than 40%.
