Jeep Wrangler on the Road - Safety

OFF-ROAD TUNED ABS
Equipped with electronic sensors that prevent the wheels from locking, the ABS system allows for greater control of the car during emergency braking; the system analyses the speed of a wheel on one axle over the other and is able to determine whether you are on dirt ground. In this situation, the ABS intervenes with a slight delay, the temporary locking of the wheels improves the braking phase by reducing the stopping speed;

Enhanced Accident Response System (EARS)
In an accident, the system facilitates the rescue operation automatically by turning on the outside lights and unlocking the doors of the car after deployment of the airbags. The system also blocks the supply of fuel to the engine;

ESC Mode
Electronic stability is controlled in 3 ways: it can be managed by the driver in order to choose the optimal brake force adjustment to reduce oversteer and understeer.

The ESC on the Wrangler includes:
• the emergency Brake Assist System (BAS), allows you to immediately apply the maximum braking force and reduce possible braking distances

• the Traction Control System (TCS) identifies the slippage of the drive wheels and reduces engine power.

• the ERM system (Electronic Roll Mitigation), uses the data from the sensors of the ESC to detect the risk of potential rollover of the vehicle and intervenes by measuring the braking force to individual wheels;

• the Brake Lock Differentials (BLD), sends the appropriate braking force to the wheel if slipping occurs, in order to provide the necessary torque to control the movement. A separate setting of BLD calibrations is designed for off-road operation and is automatically activated in low range mode (4WD low).

Hill Descent Control (HDC)
Hill Descent Control with grade sensing allows a smooth and controlled hill descent on rough or slippery terrain without the driver needing to touch the brake pedal. This system applies the brakes to each wheel individually when needed to reduce forward motion while negotiating down steep grades.

Hill Start Assist (HSA)
Wrangler’s hill descent control with grade sensing allows a smooth and controlled hill descent on rough or slippery terrain without the driver needing to touch the brake pedal. This system applies the brakes to each wheel individually when needed to reduce forward motion while negotiating down steep grades. Hill start assist helps when starting from a stop on a hill by maintaining the level of brake pressure applied for a short period after the driver’s foot is removed from the brake pedal.

Tyre Pressure Monitoring System
Tyre Pressure Monitoring System indicates a possible reduction in tyre pressure, standard on all versions.

PASSIVE SAFETY

AIRBAGS
Wrangler is fitted with advanced multistage front air bags. These air bags provide near instantaneous passenger protection by matching air bag deployment to crash severity.

 3-point seat belts
Three-point lap and shoulder belts for all seating positions.

ISOFIX SEATS
Easy to use for the accommodation of compatible child seats in the rear.

BODY-ON-FRAME
Jeep® Wrangler’s body-on-frame construction is fully boxed for added strength, stiffness and durability. A boxed body-on-frame design enhances suspension performance, reduces noise, vibration and harshness.

THEFT DETERRENTS
Keep your belongings safe with included features: fully-enclosed lockable centre console; lockable glove box; and a secure, hidden under-floor storage bin. Stow your gear in the secured storage bin under Wrangler’s rear floor. The clever storage bins are only accessible when the lockable rear swing gate is opened. Sentry Key® engine immobiliser prevents your Jeep® Wrangler from being started without your key.
