MAXIMIZE YOUR RANGE AND BATTERY LIFE
WHAT DOES WLTP MEAN?
The WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure) is a standardised test that measures the range of an electric vehicle under ideal conditions (230C, thermal comfort OFF, average speed of 46 km/h in a combined cycle). It provides a helpful estimate of how far you can drive on a full charge. However, everyday driving conditions such as weather, driving habits, and terrain can impact your actual range. While the WLTP figure offers a useful guideline, the distance you achieve may vary based on how and where you use your vehicle.
MAXIMISING YOUR ELECTRIC VEHICLE RANGE: HELPFUL TIPS
• Consider your vehicle: Battery size and aerodynamics affect range. Select a model that best meets your driving needs.
• Drive thoughtfully: High speeds can reduce your range, especially on highways.
• Mind the conditions: Cold temperatures and using heating or air conditioning can affect your vehicle’s range.
• Minimise extra weight: Additional passengers, luggage, or roof racks can lower your range.
• Plan your journey: Use trip planners and range indicators to ensure a smooth, efficient drive.
Feel free to schedule a test drive to experience the range in real-world conditions.
PRACTICAL USE CASES
Daily city commutes: For typical daily use, such as commuting to work, drivers travelling around 24 miles per day will usually only need to charge about once a week with any of our vehicles. You can precondition your vehicle to reduce heating consumption in cold weather (below 15°C).
Long-distance trips: For longer journeys, such as a weekend getaway, you may want to plan a quick stop at a fast-charging station. A 30-minute charge will provide enough range to comfortably continue your trip. Keep your speed below 70 mph and drive thoughtfully: high speeds can reduce your range, especially on highways.
CARING FOR YOUR ELECTRIC VEHICLE'S BATTERY
To keep your battery healthy and extend its life, follow these simple tips:
• Keep the State of Charge between 20-80% for daily use, according to OEM advice.
• Avoid parking your vehicle in hot environments for extended periods.
• Regularly service your electric vehicle to ensure optimal performances.
• Use pre-conditioning (when available) to regulate the battery temperature before driving.
