DURATION OF THE COMMERCIAL WARRANTY ON THE HIGH-VOLTAGE BATTERY:
The high-voltage lithium-ion traction battery is guaranteed for a period of 8 years or 100,000 miles for the New Jeep® Compass model, whichever occurs first, from the date of vehicle delivery (with the first 24 months covered without any mileage limitation). This warranty entails the manufacturer’s obligation, at no additional cost to the customer, to remedy manufacturing defects by replacing the high-voltage battery with a new or certified refurbished battery, which is to say by repairing it. Such repair or replacement will equip the vehicle with a battery whose capacity is at least equal to the capacity of the battery prior to the occurrence of the fault.
CHARGING CAPACITY OF THE HIGH-VOLTAGE BATTERY
The high-voltage battery has a limited service life. Its ability to retain charge decreases with time and use, just like any other rechargeable battery.
The extent of battery capacity degradation varies depending on external conditions (ambient temperature, etc.) and usage conditions, such as driving habits e charging methods, as described in the Owner's Manual, available here:
This is an inherent characteristic of lithium-ion traction batteries and does not constitute a manufacturing defect, unless the battery capacity drops below 70% before the occurance of either
(i) the end of the 8th year or
(ii) a distance of 100,000 miles traveled from the vehicle delivery date, depending on whichever occurs firt.
CONDITIONS AND LIMITS OF VALIDITY OF THE COMMERCIAL WARRANTY ON THE HIGH-VOLTAGE BATTERY
The commercial warranty becomes void in the following circumstances:
* Failure to comply with the charging procedures described in the Owner’s Manual. Consult them here
* Use of charging devices that do not comply with what is specified in the Owner’s Manual, available here
* Failure to comply with the WARNING and PRECAUTION instructions set out in the Owner’s Manual that you can consult here (*warning and precautions available below).
* Failure of other components related to the electric drivetrain after the expiry of the 24-month / unlimited mileage warranty.
* Modification or disassembly of the vehicle by third parties not belonging to the authorised Service Network.
* Repairs and/or scheduled maintenance were not carried out in accordance with the Manufacturer’s guidelines.
* Failure to perform scheduled maintenance operations.
* Negligence, accidents, improper use, participation in sporting competitions, repairs with non-original or non-equivalent parts, or worsening of damage as a result of using the vehicle while an evident fault is present.
(*) WARNING and PRECAUTION instructions
1. Do not charge if the outside temperature is -30°C or below, as charging may take longer and the charging device could be damaged.
2. Do not leave the vehicle or the charging cable in areas where the outside temperature is below -40°C, as they could be damaged.
3. In freezing temperatures, the charging cable may become stiff. Therefore, avoid applying excessive force to the charging cable, as it could be damaged.
4. Do not use generator sets.
5. Do not charge the high-voltage battery using non-compliant or damaged sockets or charging cables.
6. Avoid leaving the high-voltage battery for several days with the charge indicator at zero or close to zero.
7. Do not wait until the high-voltage battery level is low before charging. High-voltage battery performance is optimal when it is charged regularly.
8. Charging the high-voltage battery may take longer if the high-voltage battery temperature is high or low.
9. Always stop the electric motor by turning the start device to the STOP position before charging the high-voltage battery. Even with the motor off, the cooling fan in the engine compartment may start automatically during charging. Do not approach the cooling fan while it is operating during charging.
10. The safety and suitability of the home electrical system for charging via the domestic network are essential and are the Customer’s responsibility.
11. Do not connect the charging cable connector if there is dust and/or water on the charging inlet.
12. Stop charging immediately if any abnormal symptoms are detected (e.g., smell, smoke, etc.).
13. Replace the charging cable if the cable sheath is damaged, to prevent the risk of electric shock.
14. When connecting or removing the charging cable, make sure to hold the handle of the charging connector and the charging plug. If you pull directly on the cable (without using the handle), the internal conductors could disconnect or be damaged.
15. During charging, the use of any plug adapter or similar device is strictly prohibited. Never use the charging cable with an extension lead or a multi-socket adapter/power strip.
16. The “Mode 2” charging cable is waterproof and is guaranteed by the Manufacturer: do not use other cables not supplied by the Manufacturer.
17. Do not touch the charging connector and charging plug with wet hands.
18. Do not charge when the charging connector and charging plug are wet.
19. Do not charge at charging stations in adverse weather conditions (e.g., during thunderstorms).
20. Do not use chemicals or solvents.
21. Do not use chargers other than the designated one.
22. Avoid prolonged exposure of the charging cable to sunlight.
23. Do not use the charging cable if it has damaged parts.
24. Never disconnect the charging cable from the domestic power socket or from the public charging station during charging. Always stop charging first, then disconnect the cable—first from the vehicle-side charging inlet and then from the domestic power socket or public charging station.
25. The high-voltage battery must be charged only with the maximum permitted current or another lower current in accordance with local and national recommendations for charging high-voltage batteries.
