AN EPIC DRAGSTER BATTLE OVER 1320FT
The scene was set. Santa Pod, the most famous drag racing strip in the UK. The Grand Cherokee SRT and a retro Hemi-powered Hot Rod Coupe, with a quarter-mile dash towards the chequered flag ahead.
Behind the wheel of the Grand Cherokee SRT, UK drag racing champion Stuart Doignie launched with an impressive 0-62mph speed of just 4.5 seconds. Crossing the line in 13.5 seconds, defeating the coupe by 0.9 seconds.
“I was hugely impressed by the raw power and speed of the Grand Cherokee SRT. I’ve driven plenty of dragster vehicles at Santa Pod but never a car built purely for the road. It’s immensely quick off the line and powered through the finish gantry”, said Doignie after the race.
And that’s not surprising, given it’s packed with 468hp. But for every ounce of brawn – the Grand Cherokee SRT has the brains to match. It teams that power with cutting edge technology like Launch Control, for ultimate performance.
The Grand Cherokee SRT is race-inspired through and through – complete with an Electronic Vehicle Information Centre that lets you monitor race stats from torque to g-force and racing style brake and throttle pedal pads. And yet, with its spacious interior clad in finest Nappa leather and suede, the Grand Cherokee SRT offers a comfort you don’t usually find at a race track.
The Grand Cherokee SRT’s Santa Pod success proved one thing conclusively. Luxury can go fast and furious.
